North West Province

North West is known as the Platinum Province because of the wealth of metal that is mined here. The province lies in the north of South Africa on the Botswana border, fringed by the Kalahari desert in the west, Gauteng province to the east, and the Free State to the south. Most economic activity is concentrated in the southern region as well as Rustenburg and the eastern region, where more than 83.3% of the province's economic activity takes place.

Lion & Safari Park

The Lion and Safari Park is a 600 hectare wilderness reserve situated in the Hartebeespoort, Magaliesburg and Cradle of Humankind area.

The rare white lion is the main attraction of this park which has more than 100 lions. Other carnivore species found here are the hyenas, cheetahs and wild dogs. Black wildebeest, zebra, springbok, blesbok, gemsbok and giraffe are amongst the herbivore species. Attractions here are the guided lion and wild dog tour, the guided safari tour, the cheetah walk and cheetah interaction as well as giraffe feeding.

De Wildt Cheetah Centre

This centre is home to the Cheetah which is Africa's fastest cat and can reach speeds of up to 120 km/h over a very short distance. Your tour will be educational and you will get a very close up look at these magnificent animals. Also experience the rare wild dogs, one of the most endangered animals on the planet.

The De Wildt Cheetah and Wildlife Centre, also known as Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre is a captive breeding facility for South African cheetahs and other animals that is situated in the foothills of the Magaliesberg mountain range in the North West Province of South Africa.

Elephant Sanctuary

The Elephant Sanctuary Hartbeespoort Dam is an elephant sanctuary providing a safe haven and “halfway house” for African elephants. It provides fully guided interactive elephant educational programs covering elephant habits, dynamics, behavior and anatomy.

This sanctuary has African elephants and offers an interactive elephant experience and even elephant back riding. Also on offer are hands-on educational elephant interactions. Guests are guided on foot through The Elephant Sanctuary, and Guides will provide in-depth information and insight into African Elephants. You will be introduced to our elephants in the forest area, and here you will be able to touch and interact with the elephants.

Lesedi Cultural Village

Enjoy an authentic African experience on this half day tour. At Lesedi Cultural Village you will enjoy the rich African culture first hand. The people of Lesedi have created an African ambiance that you won’t find elsewhere!Visit five traditional villages including Xhosa, Zulu, Pedi, Basotho and Ndebele. Listen to the traditional music being played and the fascinating stories told by the people of Lesedi. Enjoy a local South African tribal get-together and experience some traditional dancing. This multi-cultural village will leave in you the true rural African feeling when you experience the African drumbeat accompanied with dancing ululating women. Lesedi means "place of light" and the village reflects the lifestyles and cultures of the Zulu, Xhosa, Pedi and Basotho tribes. You can participate in the energetic dancing and drum beating or just enjoy the displays of these people's creations.

The restaurant, Nyama Choma's name means Great African Feast. An extensive choice of African dishes, including crocodile and ostrich awaits you here. The restaurant is divided into three different theme areas: North Africa, East Africa and South Africa.

Pilanesberg National Park

Possibly the most accessible of all the fascinating game reserves in South Africa and situated in the ecologically rich transition zone between the Kalahari and the Lowveld. It promises thrilling big game viewing in a malaria free environment. A wide variety of accommodation is available to suit your needs.

This Reserve is one of the largest National Parks in South Africa and is established on an extinct volcano. The big 5 as well as various other wild life, bird and plant species can be found here and can almost always be seen on one day. The wild life is abundant and the excitement of seeing these animals in their natural habitat in these beautiful surroundings is addictive!

Also offered are balloon safaris, where you are taken up in the air with a hot air balloon from where you can enjoy splendid sceneries whilst sipping sparkling wine.

The landscape consists of varied panoramas and colourful hues which lend itself to beautiful photographic opportunities. Thabayadiotso - the beautiful mountain, and the Pilanesberg Mountain reflect in the Mankwe Dam, which is the park's largest central lake.
